Bishop Stang Student Council Earns National Award

Bishop Stang is consistently recognized as a Gold Council of Excellence at the state level, but for the first time in school history, the recognition has been designated at the national level. Fourteen high schools in Massachusetts, including Bishop Stang, received this designation for the 2023-2024 academic year!

“Receiving a National Gold Council of Excellence Award reflects the amazing dedication of the students and school to make their community a better place,” said NASSP CEO Ronn Nozoe. “Bishop Stang has gone above and beyond in elevating student voice to ensure they are establishing a positive climate and culture, as well as fostering academic and social growth for all.”

“The students work incredibly hard all year to put on events, promote school spirit, and serve our community. It is an honor to advise this group and help the students put their ideas into action. I am exceptionally proud of the work the students have done this year,” said student council advisor Cara Healey.

A student council must meet a variety of criteria to earn the National Gold Council of Excellence Award. In addition to basic requirements such as a written constitution, regular meetings, and a democratic election process, the councils must have demonstrated successful sponsorship and participation in activities such as leadership development and service to the school and community.

We thank our student council for all of their hard work in helping strengthen the Bishop Stang community!
