Faculty Spotlight: Ms. Siergiey

Originally from Upstate New York, Stang’s Music Director Meg Siergiey has come a long way to call Bishop Stang her new home. Before graduating from Ithaca College in 2023, Ms.Siergiey has been a student of music for most of her life.

Starting her musical endeavors in just the first grade, Ms. Siergiey would sing in her church choir as a small child - and after taking up clarinet in the 4th grade, she has never looked back. Music moves Ms. Siergiey; emotionally, spiritually, and even physically! She also grew up with a passion for dance and has been trained in ballet, pointe, jazz, hip hop, and more. She was even selected to dance in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade as a dancer in the Macy’s Great American Marching Band!

At Ithaca College, she studied Music Education, and as a part of the curriculum had to take classes to learn every instrument in the band - everything from bassoon to tuba. She has also attended a conducting symposium to further her knowledge and talents. With well-rounded abilities and a zeal for teaching, the students love learning from her.

When asked what she loves most about Stang, she shared, “Faith is a huge part of my life, and I love being able to express that at work everyday.” She continued, “I love how genuine the students are and their interest in music. Little moments with them in the classroom or hallways just saying hi are so heartwarming - I feel so welcomed and appreciated here. Even the faculty are so supportive. Having Tim Gannon (a fellow musician) as my Department Chair makes me feel seen and heard.”

Outside of school you’ll find her playing with the Rhode Island Wind Ensemble, directing Stang’s Pep Band, and snuggled up on the couch with her best buddy since the 6th grade: her cat Rosiley. We’re so lucky to have Ms. Siergiey begin her teaching career with us!
