What does the SPA do?

The Spartan Parent Association (SPA) exists for the benefit of the parents of Bishop Stang High School as well as to support the mission of the school. The Association, made up of current parents, strives to achieve the following goals:

  • Planning events whether social or informational that are a source of support for current Bishop Stang parents.
  • Coordinate and support events within the school for faculty and staff appreciation and collaboration.
  • Assist the school in marketing and admissions events to attract families across the Southeast coast of Massachusetts as well as Rhode Island.
  • Plan and develop local community events inviting prospective families to Bishop Stang admission events held throughout the south coast.

The Spartan Parent Association serves as a resource for all parents. Parents are needed to continue to build the Bishop Stang community and together address specific topics related to the joys and challenges of raising high school-age children.

The Spartan Parent Association consists of an Executive Team, individual event organizers, and parent volunteers. Every parent or guardian of BSHS is welcome and encouraged to participate in Spartan Parent Association meetings and events.  The Executive Team is composed of two co-presidents, a secretary, a treasurer, an event coordinator, and an outreach coordinator. These roles work together with administration to oversee the organization. Parent volunteers will be called upon to help at various events or activities throughout the year.

How often does the SPA meet?

We generally meet once per month either on campus at Stang or via Zoom. Emails will be sent to all parents as reminders for the meetings, and dates and times will be posted on the school calendar and in the monthly newsletter.

Who is the SPA Executive Team?

Co-Presidents: Alison Donovan and Sheila Ellsworth

Who can be involved?

All parents and guardians of current students may show up to any of the meetings throughout the year to offer time, talent, ideas, and more!

*This is not a forum for parental concerns or disputes with the school which should be handled on an individual basis with school administration.
